Guidelines for selecting an open-source CMS

As a rule of thumb, we recommend using WordPress for basic sites that do not require managing large amounts of data or content. WordPress excels in speed and ease of use and is the perfect solution if your site only requires a blog, a photo gallery, basic content management, and other standard features. WordPress is light, fast, and reliable and by far the most popular CMS on the web.

For larger sites that require more advanced features such as multi-user management, sophisticated data structure, and advanced content management capabilities we recommend using Drupal. Drupal offers extreme flexibility and is the system of choice for many large-scale websites such as whitehouse.gov, nysenate.gov, cnngo.com, christinaaguilera.com, att.com, and many more.
